Types of HIV/STI Self-Test Kits Available for Free
How to request a free HIV/STI self-test kit
To receive your kit from Let's Get Checked, follow the instructions below:
- Click on one of the links above for the type of test you want to order.
- Only these links work to get a free test.
- On the Let's Get Checked website that opens, click the “Order at home kit” button.
- On the next screen, enter your zip code then click the “Confirm & continue” button.
- Only Mecklenburg County zip codes are eligible for free self-test kits.
- On the next screen:
- If you don't have an account, enter your information and click the “Create my account” button.
- If you already have an account, click the “Sign in” link and enter your username and password.
- On the next screen, enter your shipping information and click the “Confirm & continue” button.
- On the next screen, click on the “Go to Dashboard” button.
- On the next screen, read the authorization form and click the “I accept” button.
You will receive an order confirmation email. Please note that you ordered only one type of self-test kit. You must repeat this process using the other button above to order the other type of self-test kit.
Let's Get Checked Mecklenburg Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, both types of self-test kits are free for Mecklenburg County residents.
Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, HIV (I, II, P24 antigen), Syphilis and Trichomoniasis
You can order one of each type of self-test kit at a time per account. Others in your household must create their own accounts to order their own self-test kits.
2-5 business days. Let Get Checked will email and text once your order has been placed, shipped, and delivered.
Test kits are delivered via UPS or USPS free-of-charge in a plain envelope with no reference to Let’s Get Checked on the envelope.
Usually within 2 -5 business days after the lab receives your sample.
When your results are ready, you will receive an email to let you know your results are available. You can access your results by signing into your Let’s Get Checked Dashboard.
Mecklenburg County HIV/STD Division will receive the clients’ test results and will link to care for any positive results.
