Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program

(BCCCP)

Mecklenburg County Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) provides free and low-cost breast and cervical cancer screenings to eligible women between the ages of 21-64 who live within Mecklenburg County. BCCCP funding is used to cover services that are not covered or provided through Family Planning (Title X).

BCCCP Offers the Following Services:

  • Clinical Breast Exam (CBE)
  • Screening mammograms
  • Diagnostic mammograms
  • Breast Ultrasounds
  • Breast biopsies
  • Pap smears
  • Colposcopies

BCCCP Eligibility Criteria

All clients seeking enrollment into the BCCCP program must meet the eligibility requirements listed below and schedule a BCCCP enrollment appointment to verify eligibility.

The following are BCCCP eligibility requirements:

Must Be:

  • A Mecklenburg County resident
  • Uninsured or Underinsured
  • At or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level

Must Provide:

  • Required income documents (paycheck stubs, employer letter, letter of support, W2, checking or savings account bank statements, SSI statement/letter)
  • A piece of mail as proof of residency
  • A state ID, driver’s license, or passport

Must sign a BCCCP consent form at the BCCCP certification appointment

The following are BCCCP provider visit (CBE and pap smear) requirements:

  • History of tubal ligation
  • History of hysterectomy
  • Has not had menstrual cycle for one year or greater

If you desire to change your current birth control method, want STI testing, have a breast concern, or are due for a pap smear or mammogram and do not meet the BCCCP provider visit criteria, please call 704-336-6500 to schedule a Family Planning appointment.
