FosterCARE Facilitator Training (Closed Registration)

The FosterCARE Coach course actively builds your skills to coach others in your local, on-site agency in the application of FosterCARE through discussion, demonstrations, practice, and live coaching. This advanced course and follow-up consultation covers how to give participant feedback during FosterCARE coaching, how to teach specific FosterCARE skills on-on-one to your agency staff, and how to maintain fidelity to the FosterCARE model. In preparation to become a FosterCARE Coach, participants will learn the FosterCARE observational system, develop adult learning strategies, and practice coaching methods. Following the on-site FosterCARE Coach Course, webbased FosterCARE Coach consultation calls are held in a group format to assist with agency implementation and sustainability issues. 

The FosterCARE Facilitator course allows you to facilitate general FosterCARE groups at your site for caregivers or in-agency staff and professionals. This advanced course covers how to give participant feedback during a FosterCARE training, how to teach specific FosterCARE skills, how to structure and facilitate FosterCARE workshops within your local agency, and how to maintain fidelity to the FosterCARE model. In preparation to become a FosterCARE Facilitator, participants will review the FosterCARE curriculum, develop adult learning strategies, and practice facilitative methods.

Who can be a Coach? To become a FosterCARE Coach, participants must: 

  • Complete a FosterCARE training 
  • Serve as an educator or provider who has a supportive, training, or leadership role within your agency or institution.

Who can be a Facilitator? 

To become a FosterCARE Facilitator, participants must: 

  • Participate in a FosterCARE training
  • Have completed training in at least one of the following evidence-based models: 
    • Helping the Non-Compliant Child (HNC)
    • Incredible Years (IY) 
    • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) 
    • Parent Management Training-Oregon Model (PMTO) 
    • Positive Parenting Program (Triple-P) Participate in FosterCARE Coach training, unless rostered or nationally certified in PCIT
  • Participate in a FosterCARE Facilitator training 
  • Participate in at least 4 consultation calls following FosterCARE Facilitator training
  •  Facilitate at least 1 FosterCARE training within 6 months of Facilitator training


Skills Attained 

FosterCARE Coach: 

  • You are able to provide one-on-one sustainability coaching to others at your site who have already completed a FosterCARE training 
  • You are 1.5 degrees of separation from family, meaning you may continue teaching caregivers skills in a one-on-one setting or use skills directly with child 

FosterCARE Facilitator

  • You may train and coach caregivers in groups served by your agency 
  • You may train and coach in-agency staff and professionals 
  • You are 2 degrees of separation from family, meaning you can train others in your agency to use the skills with caregivers, hold caregiver groups on FosterCARE, continue teaching caregivers skills in a one-on-one setting, or use skills directly with the child or teen.
