
Familia Adelante Facilitator 3 Day Training - 3rd day - La Voz de La Esperanza Church
Familia Adelante is an evidence-based program that uses a psychoeducational approach to support Hispanic/Latine and immigrant youth ages 10-14 and their families with techniques for identifying stressors and risk factors, ultimately strengthening ties to important social institutions.
Over the course of 8 in-person or virtual sessions, the Familia Adelante program aims to do the following:
- Reduce overall levels of family stress.
- Reduce youth behavior problems.
- Reduce the effects of acculturation stress.
- Enhance psychosocial coping and life skills in both children and adults.
- Enhance academic achievement.
- Decrease the risk for later substance abuse and emotional problems.
- Reduce the rate of HIV through sex and HIV education.
During the 3-day facilitator training, participants will do the following:
- Gain knowledge about risk and protective factors in the Latino community related to substance use and behavioral problems.
- Learn the underlying stress theory and research basis for Familia Adelante.
- Acquire skills in implementing the 8-week Familia Adelante curricula for youth and parents.
- Understand Familia Adelante's fidelity monitoring and outcome evaluation procedures.
- Develop a site-specific implementation, supervision, and fidelity monitoring plan for Familia Adelante.
After the training, facilitators will receive ongoing coaching support through post-training webinars led by Familia Adelante trainers.
We are seeking facilitators who are bilingual (English/Spanish) and have backgrounds in psychology, mental health, education, and community engagement.
To be eligible for the training, you must do the following:
- Submit an online application form.
- Submit your resume and 2 professional references.
- Agree to participate in the FULL 2.5-day in-person training as well as a virtual introductory session and up to 4 virtual post-training coaching sessions.
- Sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

- Friday, April 4: 9 AM – 3 PM at Valerie C. Woodard Center
- Saturday, April 5: 9 AM – 12 PM at La Voz de la Esperanza Church
