Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults through its ALGEE Action Plan:

  • Assess for risk of suicide or harm
  • Listen nonjudgmentally
  • Give reassurance and information
  • Encourage appropriate professional help
  • Encourage self-help and other support strategies

The course introduces common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, how to interact with a person in crisis, how to connect them with help, and expanded content on trauma, substance use, and self-care.

Important Notes:

  • This is a BLENDED course, which means you must complete 2 hours of pre-work before you can attend the in-person portion of the training. Instructions on how to complete the pre-work will be provided after registration is complete.
